Whether it’s touring the wonderful local chocolate makers in the Seattle area, or crafting your very own chocolate treats in one of our events or classes, we’re looking forward to bringing you a new experience of the deliciousness that is chocolate. From tasting to exploration, chocolaty goodness stays at the center of what we do here at the Chocolate Box.

The Tour de Chocolate

There’s a delicious way to enjoy Seattle’s “other bean” and see the city. Take The Tour de Chocolate for a morning of chocolate education and plenty of sampling from some of Seattle’s most famous chocolatiers.

We’ve brought back the wildly successful Tour de Chocolate with some tasty new updates that will entertain, educate and make you a real chocolate “snob”!

Your experience begins at 9:00 at Chocolate Box, our temple to the Cacao Gods. One of our expert staff members will greet you with possibly the world’s best hot chocolate from Seattle’s own Chocolat Vitale, delicious even on warm summer mornings. We then feature a short overview of where and how cacao is grown, along with lessons on the right way to eat fine chocolate. Your “snob” training has begun!

You’re then placed on a luxury van for a short and scenic ride to a chocolate factory tour of Theo Chocolates in Fremont – the country’s only bean-to-bar, organic and fair trade chocolate factory. Willy Wonka would be proud! Your factory tour is wonderfully educational and full of samples of most of Theo’s world-famous bars.

After your factory tour, your van transports you back to Chocolate Box via another scenic route around Lake Union (your out-of-town visitors will love the unique Seattle sights). The fun has just begun! Back at the Chocolate Box, you’ll get to make your own chocolate treats as we show you how to temper chocolate. You’ll also learn how to properly dip fun things to make a yummy confection of your own, incorporating fun ingredients like pretzels, Oreo’s, or fruit. Using items from a huge buffet of yummy ingredients, you’ll also be making your very own custom chocolate bar!

Your experience ends with a thank-you bag of chocolate samples from our store as well as a generous shopping coupon – it’s also good at our sister store next door, Simply Seattle, the best place in town for souvenirs and gifts that scream “Seattle”!

TOUR DATES AND TIMES: Tours begin at 9:00am sharp every Saturday AND Sunday at Chocolate Box, 106 Pine Street, near the Pike Place Market. Store number: (206) 443-3900. Please be on time as we keep a very tight schedule for the tours. Our tours should last from 2 1/2 to 3 hours depending on traffic.

RESTRICTIONS/CANCELLATION POLICY: Because our tours generally sell out, in order to receive a refund for cancellation, we need to hear from you at least 48 hours in advance. If you must cancel after that deadline, we will reschedule you to another tour in the future as space allows. If we can sell your seat after the cancellation deadline, we’ll be happy to refund your ticket price.

The Tour de Chocolate and their chocolatier partners require that tour participants be at least 10 years of age. Children between the ages of 10 and 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Please note that we may have to cancel the tour from time to time due to lack of adequate ticket sales or inclement weather. We won’t cancel tours until 5:00PM the night before your tour, but feel free to call the information line to check if you tour is still on before then.
